Floyd W Fox (1942-2017)

Floyd W Fox, age 74, passed away of cancer on May 11, 2017 at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. Floyd was a kind, generous, thoughtful, courageous and funny man. He was born and raised in Compton, CA and later moved with his family to Grass Valley, CA where he attended high school. He returned to southern CA to attend Compton Junior College and joined the Beta Phi fraternity where he made many lifelong friends. Floyd enlisted in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam war and after completing his service found his way to Sonoma County. Floyd earned his Bachelor’s Degree at Sonoma State University and then lived in St. Helena where he worked in the wine industry for many years. In his 60's he decided to return to college and attended the Green MBA program at Dominican University of CA. After being awarded his MBA in Sustainable Enterprise he worked at Saybrook University as a library researcher. Floyd was an avid hiker in the Sonoma County Parks, a big Giant's fan, a volunteer for the Climate Protection Campaign and Levi's GranFondo. He worked for positive change in his home neighborhood of the Santa Rosa Art District and was instrumental in seeing that the Church of One Tree remained accessible to the public. Floyd was one of five children and is survived by his devoted partner Owen, twin brother Lloyd, sister Betty Jack and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Donations may be made in Floyd's name to the American Cancer Society.
